Inventory Control Specialist (ICS)

The Inventory Control Specialist role is responsible for carrying out inventory control and material storage activities, including supporting the internal teams involved with cycle counts, material routing, and material handling. We are specifically looking for candidates who have broad experience with maintaining physical material flow and have a strong understanding of material movement within an ERP system. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts inventory control, cycle count, and materials storage activities in a complex production environment.
- Assists in creating and implementing policies and procedures for inventory control and material storage. This will require working closely with the Receiving, Material Handling, and Shipping Departments to develop procedures.
- Trains others on inventory best practices, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains inventory accuracy to ensure deliveries occur within customer timelines.
- Works with the purchasing department to schedule the delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Assists in creating and implementing an intuitive inventory storage plan and schema for inventory locations.
- Identifies slow-moving, obsolete, and damaged inventory to senior management.
- Recommends write-offs of damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect the accurate value of inventory.
- Disposes of non-conforming inventory in compliant, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective ways.
- Maintains and ensures the accuracy of inventory levels in the ERP system.
- Assists in creating and implementing cycle count program and conducts cycle count activities to maintain accurate inventory between physical inventory counts.
- Establishes procedures for conducting and valuing year-end physical inventory.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Skills and Experience:
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well across all levels of management and staff.
- Proficient with inventory best practices and reporting metrics including inventory accuracy and aging.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Forklift operating experience is required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Proficient with inventory management (WMS and ERP) systems.
- Experience working with ISO 9001 or AS 9100 Quality Management Systems is desired.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is strongly desired.
Education and Certifications:
- A high school graduate diploma or GED is required.
- Three years of experience with the Inventory Control processes listed above is required.
- Forklift operator license or certification is strongly desired.
Physical Requirements:
- The Inventory Control Specialist is expected to walk, reach, bend, lift, and/or sit at a workstation during an 8-hour shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Position Reporting: This position reports to the Sr. Production Scheduling Manager
Compensation: This is an hourly position which includes company standard benefits of insurance, paid time off, company-recognized holidays and participation in the company's 401K plan. Overtime work is expected and will be paid at time-and-a-half rate.
