Sr. Security Engineer - Hybrid Opportunity (Based in West Des Moines, IA)

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Security Engineer with 5–10 years of cybersecurity experience, specializing in AWS cloud security. This role demands strong expertise in security principles, cloud infrastructure, and advanced threat detection and mitigation. The successful candidate will drive initiatives to strengthen our security posture, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and partner with cross‑functional teams to safeguard our digital assets.

Accountabilities:

• Deploy, configure, and manage Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and Panorama for centralized management.
• Implement and maintain GlobalProtect VPN solutions for secure remote access.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, NAT rules, and application-based controls.
• Lead the design, implementation, and management of advanced endpoint protection, detection, and response tools.
• Apply the MITRE ATT&CK framework to proactively identify and mitigate attack techniques.
• Architect and oversee IAM security strategies including user permissions, role-based access control, and auditing across AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Analyze and respond to complex security events using SIEM tools, providing expert-level insights.
• Drive AWS cloud security initiatives, including configuration reviews, compliance checks, and threat modeling.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate security operations and incident response processes.
• Lead end-user security awareness programs and training initiatives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align security strategies with business objectives.
• Take ownership of complex security projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Mentor junior security staff and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in cybersecurity roles with a focus on cloud security.
• 3–5 years of experience in network security engineering with a focus on Palo Alto Networks solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Panorama, NGFW, and GlobalProtect.
• Expertise in AWS cloud security including IAM, VPC, security groups, and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency with endpoint protection and SIEM tools.
• Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex security projects and mentor team members.
• Continuous learning mindset with a track record of adopting new technologies and practices.

Compensation:

$115,000 - $145,000 commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility
