Kitchen Manager
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at a bustling breakfast restaurant that specializes in sourdough baking. As the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the oversight of all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the highest level of food quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This is a leadership role that requires strong culinary expertise, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. Responsibilities:
1. Kitchen Operations Management:
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, baking, and plating.
- Ensure adherence to standardized recipes, portion control, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving supplies.
- Collaborate with the restaurant manager to develop menus, specials, and promotions. 2. Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead and motivate a team of kitchen staff, including cooks, bakers, and prep personnel.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth. 3. Menu Development and Innovation:
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of the menu, with a focus on sourdough baking.
- Stay updated on culinary trends, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and introducing new flavors.
- Experiment with new recipes, techniques, and presentation styles to enhance the menu offerings.
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizes across all menu items. 4. Quality Control and Food Safety:
- Implement and enforce strict food safety standards and sanitation practices.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health department regulations.
- Monitor and maintain proper storage, handling, and labeling of all food products.
- Address any food quality or customer service issues promptly and effectively. Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar leadership role in a breakfast or bakery setting.
- Knowledge of sourdough baking techniques and breakfast cuisine.
- Strong culinary skills, with the ability to create and execute innovative menu items.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
