The Senior Manager will report to CNT's Managing Director of Transportation and Sustainability and be part of the Transportation and Sustainability team, a diverse group of talented professionals ranging in experience from early career to decades of knowledge, including award-winning transportation advocate, Jacky Grimshaw. The position includes the following activities:

  • Manage several cutting-edge national transportation equity projects.
  • Support the team by providing expertise on federal and state transportation policy.
  • Evaluate infrastructure funding and financing, and identify ways to improve equity,
justice, and climate impacts of investments.
  • Collaborate with team members on advocacy to city, county, regional, and state
officials regarding transportation equity and sustainability priorities
  • Work with government agencies, including consulting contracts and external advocacy
to improve practices and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with staff members across CNT departments to bring their expertise in
land use, housing, nature-based solutions, and analytics into projects.

CNT is engaged in a broad and growing set of projects and coalitions to expand transportation access, inclusive decision-making, and decarbonization. The Senior Manager is expected to be an excellent project manager with a proven track record of accomplishments who can help CNT meet its goals and contribute insights that lead to meaningful change in the equitable transportation landscape. Ongoing and upcoming projects include:

  • Technical assistance as part of a national team to help local governments work with
community-based organizations (CBOs) to meet sustainability and equity goals and begin the repair of damage to community that transportation investments have caused.
  • Infrastructure prioritization projects: analysis of the equity and sustainability impacts of
state and local transportation investment plans, recommendations for improvement, and coordination with advocacy partners to create change.
  • National research to document best practices for equitable engagement with the public
and CBOs and to understand impacts of transportation investment on racial inequities.

We believe in working closely and equitably with local CBOs in ways that share power, knowledge, and resources. CNT has strengthened our commitment to racial equity in our mission, structure, and practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of frameworks and practices surrounding justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility. One of our goals with this position is to diversify leadership in the transportation sector, and people of color, women, and members of other underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
