Description
Job Summary:
The inventory control specialist has the primary responsibility of increasing and maintaining company profitability by maintaining accurate inventory levels while maintaining accurate records of all procurements.
Responsibilities:
Develops and implements procedures for ensuring that adequate inventory levels are present.
Identifies and optimizes common inventory items as well as slow moving or obsolete items.
Works with other teams including sales shipping/receiving and purchasing.
Ensures that inventory counts are completed regularly and in a timely manner.
Audits the facilitys entire inventory on a regular basis and provides reports to management.
Trains other employees in cycle counting and inventory control.
Follows all existing company policies and procedures.
Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made using ERP system.
Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the Director of Procurement.
Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
Daily receipt of goods in ERP system
Operates forklift truck or Scissor Lift
Performs other related duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers purchasing department and outside vendors.
Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
Proficient keyboarding skills.
Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to develop professional relationships with customers.
Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
SAP experience preferred and Sage 100
Forklift operator certification preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at time.
