FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
POSITION TYPE: Part-Time/Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Sales associates work closely with customers and provide them with product knowledge in terms of features, warranties, special discounts or deals, and any additional information about the product. They should maintain the visual appearance of the store by managing store displays and keep up with trends and competition. Retail sales associates are expected to create and maintain a long-term relationship with the customers in order to achieve sales goals and represent the store in a positive manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all policies and procedures regarding the sale of firearms
2. Greet customers, determine their needs/wants, and recommend merchandise
3. Advise customers on utilization and care of merchandise, as needed.
4. Answer any customer questions or concerns in a prompt and friendly manner
5. Stock and recover merchandise
6. Keep work area clean and organized
7. Operate pallet jacks and forklifts, as needed
8. Ensure proper signage is in place throughout assigned department
9. General use of computer to check prices and inventories
10. Assist with inventory preparation
11. Create special orders, as needed
12. Safety awareness of anything in store that may be hazard to employees or customers
13. Promptly handle any customer complaints, questions, or concerns in a professional and friendly manner
14. Bring in carts from outside
15. Additional duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
1. You must be 21 years of age and have an up-to-date Firearm Owners Identification "FOID" card to be considered for this position
2. Knowledge of hunting and fishing is preferred
3. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and procedures relative to the sale of firearms is essential
4. Must have a friendly and outgoing personality
5. Must possess strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
6. Basic computer skills
7. Flexibility to work any open store hours is required.
8. Ability to:
- Effectively communicate with customers, in-person and over the phone
- Multi-Task
- Maintain a pleasant and calm disposition under stress
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
