About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years required License: Must have active Illinois license Certifications: BLS required, CNOR preferred Must-Have: - General OR and Trauma experience required - Cerner experience preferred - Level I trauma experience required - Required case experience in bariatric, general surgery, neurology, orthopedic, plastic surgery, transplant, urology, and trauma - Emergency management skills and knowledge of equipment and instrumentation Description: Position specializes in the operating room. The shift schedule is four 10-hour days from 8:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Total of 23 rooms available in the unit. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in the operating room. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend coverage is required once per month. On-call duty is required, approximately once a week. Candidates must float within their skill set to meet facility needs, though it rarely happens. Locals are not accepted; candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility. All requests for time off must be reviewed and approved by management. The client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without compensation for the cancelled hours. If more hours are cancelled than permitted, the client will be billed for any excess shifts. Candidates must have experience with various surgical procedures including laparoscopic-assisted cases, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, cervical fusion, craniotomy, arthroscopy, amputations, and code response. Must demonstrate professional knowledge and skills in administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, and specimen handling. Candidates will be working with all service lines except cardiovascular. This is a Magnet designated facility and a Level I trauma center. Work requires adherence to universal protocol and safety procedures. The facility operates with interdisciplinary support from various teams including pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.
