Description Graphite is searching for a full-time experienced Grill Cook, anticipated opening date mid January2024. Looking for motivated individuals with strong work ethic and the ability to adapt with an eagerness to learn.Key Responsibilities
Grilling & Cooking:
- Prepare and grill meats, seafood, vegetables, and other menu items with precision and skill.
- Ensure proper grilling techniques are used to maintain flavor, texture, and presentation.
- Operate and maintain the grill station efficiently, ensuring all equipment is cleaned and functioning properly.
Menu Preparation:
- Follow recipes and presentation standards to create dishes that align with the restaurant’s fine dining concept.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to create seasonal menus and specials.
- Ensure each dish is cooked to the correct level of doneness and plated according to the restaurant's high standards.
Food Safety & Sanitation:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grill station, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure food safety at all times.
Quality Control:
- Check ingredients for freshness and quality
- Taste dishes for seasoning, texture, and flavor to ensure consistency and excellence in every dish.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure perfect results.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the sous chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with waitstaff regarding order status, special requests, and timing of dishes.
- Assist with training junior cooks and supporting other kitchen staff as needed.
Maintaining Inventory:
- Assist in managing the grill station's inventory and supply levels, ensuring there are no shortages during service.
- Help with the rotation and proper storage of ingredients to minimize waste.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a grill cook or line cook, preferably in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
- Strong understanding of various grilling techniques, meat cuts, and seafood preparation.
Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of cooking methods, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.
Certifications:
- Food safety certifications (e.g., ServSafe) preferred
