Senior Staff Accountant
The Senior Staff Accountant assists in the development and implementation of processes to reduce time to close, increase department efficiencies, improve internal controls and prepare and analyze key areas of the business. The role will have a strong focus on supporting the month end close process along with other efforts that support accurate and timely financial and management reporting.
**Please note that this position is located in our downtown Chicago office and follows our hyrbid schedule of 4 days in-office.
\n What you will do:- Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating and entering transactions.
- Uses accounting knowledge and independent discretion to determine proper accounting solutions.
- Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and reports.
- Prepares general ledger entries while maintaining sufficient supporting documentation and adhering to best practices.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end account reconciliations with supporting schedules.
- Maintains and balances subledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Identifies issues and ensures timely recording of necessary adjustments.
- Manage accruals, prepaid schedules and amortization schedules.
- Performs bank reconciliations and monitors uncleared transactions.
- Reviews, audits and processes employee expense reports.
- Manages monthly credit card reconciliation process to ensure timely processing.
- Processes and reconciling inter-company transactions.
- Leads month end closing process to ensure deadlines are met.
- Supports Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
- Performs special projects as assigned by Corporate Controller.
- Supports Corporate Finance leaders with annual financial audits and tax filings.
- Trains and develops junior team members.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
- Professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

- Outstanding attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing team members.
- Intermediate or advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
- 5+ years in a Staff Accountant role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Prior audit experience desirable.
- Engineering, Construction or Architecture industry experience required.
- Deltek Vantagepoint/Vision/Ajera experience is a plus.
$114,500 - $169,500 a year
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
