Youth Ministry Coordinator

Description:

Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church (ECRC) is looking for a passionate and energetic leader to walk alongside our high school and middle school youth, especially the boys, and provide visionary leadership to a team of volunteers. As one of the church’s Youth Coordinators, this person will introduce young people to Jesus by actively building authentic relationships and showing up in their lives, earning the right to be heard. You’ll help to build an environment where youth feel they belong, walking alongside them to grow in their own personal relationship with Jesus.

Work Expectations: 40 hours per week, Exempt

Supervisor: Pastor of Outreach

Works Closely with: Youth Coordinator, Youth and Outreach Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Co-lead the Youth Ministry for senior high and middle school students, managing worship, education, spiritual development, mission, belonging, encouragement, and emotional support.
• Build authentic relationships with all students focused primarily on the boys, showing up by practicing the ministry of presence, demonstrating that they are valued and loved.
• Recruit, train, encourage, and guide a group of volunteer leaders to walk alongside the coordinator in serving the youth
• Maintain an open dialogue and effective communication with parents
• Develop an annual personal growth plan of solitude, prayer, sabbath rest, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word

Qualifications :

• Strong Christian faith, knowledge of the Bible, and a desire to introduce ECRC students to Jesus
• A passion for working with young people, furthering their personal faith journey
• Willingness to actively participate in the lives of students by showing up in their lives, attending sporting events, school events, social events, etc.
• Gifts of service, leadership, administration, and creativity
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or experience in youth ministry
• Must believe in the Triune God and be a spiritually mature follower of Jesus Christ
• Openness to membership in Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church

Work Expectations

• Full-time, exempt
• Weekday schedule is flexible; Sunday/weekend/evening work expected
• Regular Sunday church attendance at Elmhurst CRC
