Job Summary:

Under administrative direction, the position is a high-level director role who directs and oversees a department's sales policies, objectives, and initiatives responsible for small to large revenue generation focuses on defining the opportunity strategy to sell J.B. Hunt services to the customer, aligning internal teams on developing and executing the strategy and establishing and growing a book of business. The incumbent will also be directly responsible for training and growing their direct reports. This position is a strategic leadership role with consistency and proven leadership success amongst peers. This role effectively sets strategy year after year and manages higher-level individual contributors and leaders with complex sale cycles. This role has demonstrated success in leading sales processes and initiatives with upper-level leadership cross-functionally. Manages budgets and articulates sales plans and strategies at an executive level.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, develop, lead, and motivate staff to meet sales objectives within their defined scope (e.g.. KPIs to identify gaps in process or performance).

  • Assist and strategize with direct reports in coordinating with internal teams and the customer to implement the customer's solution and maximize sales volume potential for products and services.

  • Provide day-to-day support for employee(s) and customers often by working with leadership to handle internal and external issues that have escalated beyond the scope of the incumbent's direct report(s).

  • Develop strategies to be executed by direct report(s) which focuses on the expansion of services for clients based upon J,B. Hunt's service model for Customer Value Delivery (CVD).

  • Assist direct reports in connecting and meeting with new customers/prospective customers to discuss viable opportunities to understand their business needs, identify scope, submit a proposal, finalize the contract, and win the business.

  • Influencing and motivating subordinates and cross-functionally collaborating with departments to achieve maximum sales volume and goals by working toward critical initiatives and long-term objectives.

  • Motivating subordinates to strive toward functional goals and carry out initiatives efficiently and with regard to quality - Develop strategic leaders by championing behaviors that inspire cohesiveness and move the organization to reach a vision.

  • Required participation in a strategic initiative (i.e., leadership calls, resource groups, and networking opportunities).

  • Facilitate a continuous development culture to deepen staff knowledge and skills on technical areas - Facilitate data discussion of key metrics against benchmarks and goals to keep pace with improvement opportunities, tell a story, and influence leaders.

  • Delegates challenging assignments and responsibilities to others - Leads and presents collaborative assessments that persuasively influence decision makers.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of transportation/logistics, sales, and/or relevant experience.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per JBH standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Communication, Sales, or related field.

  • With 8+ years working in transportation/logistics or relevant experience.

  • 5 or more years experience managing a team.

  • Experience in transportation.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new systems or technology.

  • Knowledge of the J.B. Hunt's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters.

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, peers, and direct reports.

  • Ability to analyze customer activity and demographic data to predict future customer behaviors and trends; utilization of the data to create team and business directives.

  • Knowledge of and ability to implement effective strategies and activities that promote long-term customer loyalty.

  • Experience in assessing customer needs and providing solutions for them.

  • Ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Ability to build a positive culture inclusive of all ideals and perspectives.

  • Ability to successfully present to executive leadership.

  • Knowledge of industry-specific trends and landscapes.

  • Ability to establish and maintain a commanding presence.

  • Ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

  • Ability to synthesize ideas and information required for process improvement into a manageable form.

  • The expected starting pay range for this position is between $122,700 - 153,400.

This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship.

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.

Benefits:

The Company offers the following benefits for full-time positions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements, as may be in effect from time to time: medical benefit, dental benefit, vision benefit, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, paid time off commensurate with tenure (includes vacation and sick time), six weeks of paid maternity leave along with two weeks of paid parental leave, and six paid holidays annually.
