Lab Tech Job Details

• Location: Paris, IL 61944 (East Central Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Setting: Hospital Laboratory
• Job Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Contract
• Start Date: July 31, 2025
• End Date: January 29, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift – Four 10-hour rotating shifts per week (includes weekends and holidays)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1250–$1280 per week

Lab Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Hospital Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician
• Associate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required
• Phlebotomy skills for all patient age groups preferred
• Typing skills and proficiency with laboratory computer systems preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures preferred
• National certification (ASCP or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Technology highly recommended

Key Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory analyses under supervision
• Collect arterial, venous, and capillary blood specimens from pediatric to geriatric patients
• Conduct drug screen collections and point-of-care laboratory testing
• Process and analyze blood, serum, plasma, urine, and other body fluids using advanced laboratory analyzers
• Perform serological and chemical tests to identify pathogens and monitor patient health
• Administer transfusion products and maintain accurate laboratory records
• Teach laboratory techniques to students and new healthcare employees
• Participate in continuing education and in-service laboratory programs
• Ensure compliance with hospital and laboratory safety policies and procedures
• Support general laboratory operations and attend staff meetings
