Pay Range: $48 per hour

Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.

Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides safe and effective occupational therapy services including the evaluation of functional performance ability of persons impaired by physical illness or injury, congenital or developmental disability and/or the aging process. The Occupational Therapist analyzes, selects and applies goal directed interventions for the treatment or prevention of these impairments/functional limitations to achieve maximum Independence for the person served. The Occupational Therapist has the ultimate responsibility for the provision of services provided by the COTA and Occupational Therapy students. All services are provided in a manner that results in the highest level of customer satisfaction. Required Job Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy Program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Understanding of state, federal, and professional practice laws, regulations and preferred practice patterns.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills; Flexibility and ability to manage work in a changing environment.
  • Basic proficiency with a computer keyboard.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience.

Physical Demands

  • Bending, twisting, reaching, pulling, pushing, balancing, crouching, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, kneeling and
  • Walking about >75% of the day.
  • Ability to carry 10 – 25Ibs and lift 50 - 75Ibs.
  • Ability to work Independently.
  • Ability to be efficient in using adaptive equipment and devices.
  • Proficient at operating equipment, electronics, computers, printer, fax, copier.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers services consistent with the established RUSH Oak Park Hospital Mission and Philosophy.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and respects the rights and dignity of all individuals.
  • Complies with current AOTA Code of Ethics and state licensure laws.
  • Based on the patient’s cognitive, physical and functional status, uses safe and appropriate guarding techniques and

assistive/adaptive devices.

  • Maintains knowledge of policies concerning precautions, codes, conditions, warnings and general safety procedures.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and care givers at levels appropriate to their age, cognitive status and

language abilities.

  • Interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professionals.
  • Participates in patient related conferences, organizational, and professional meetings as required.
  • Documents on an ongoing basis services provided, response to services, and changes in status related to the careplan.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned patients and provides occupational therapy evaluations,

modalities and treatments in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Selects, administers, and adapts the content of patient evaluations according to AOTA Standards of Practice.
  • Establishes functional and measurable goals in accordance with the patient’s level of function, age, length of stay.
  • Provides patient and family teaching.
  • Terminates services when maximum benefit is received, completes a comprehensive discharge plan.
  • Support, cultural background, physical and cognitive strengths and limitations.
  • Makes appropriate and judicious use of group and /or joint treatment sessions.
  • Maintains productivity level established by department policy.
  • Schedules and prioritizes workload.
  • Provides service as assigned based on census and patient needs.
  • Identifies professional strengths, areas of refinement and assumes responsibility for professional growth.
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities, department education and mandatory education.
  • Participates in the fieldwork education process by establishing a supportive environment for OT/ OTA students.
  • Clinically assists, supervises and provides education / instruction to facilitate professional growth of the COTA.
  • Assists in performance improvement and supports developmental and quality focused initiatives.
  • Contributes to the cost effectiveness of services and programs provided by the department.
  • Communicates suggestions related to opportunities for improvement and maintaining positive relations with all

customers.

  • Available to work weekends and holidays.
