This role is located at our beautiful headquarters on River Drive in Moline, IL. Our facility includes a comfortable office environment with an on-site gym facility.
Summary of Position:
The Mortgage Closing Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing the closing process for both first and second mortgages. This team member plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the mortgage loan closing cycle. Key responsibilities include reviewing mortgage loan documentation, coordinating with stakeholders, and maintaining precise records. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, a solid understanding of mortgage lending regulations, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and execute responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
The successful candidate should have following skills/qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage loan operations, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending practices and closing procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear, professional communication skills with a focus on member satisfaction and support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares Preliminary Closing Disclosure for delivery to borrowers while ensuring the timing meets all federal, state, and secondary market requirements.
- Prepares closing documents for all types of mortgage loan closings, including grant programs. Coordinates closing activities and the closing calendar with closing parties (attorneys, title companies, sellers, insurance companies, real estate agents, etc.).
- Performs final verifications to ensure all secondary market rules and requirements are met.
- Works with Loan Originators and Underwriters to ensure outstanding underwriting conditions are cleared in a timely manner.
- Has strong knowledge of mortgage loan, grant products and programs offered by the credit union, including those available through our affiliate relationships (e.g., IHDA, IFA, FHLB and city and state programs).
- Submits requests for Down Payment Plus grants.
- Locks loans in Encompass and with the appropriate Secondary Market.

Physical Requirements
