Duration: 9-month contract (August 13th - May 21st)

Shift:

• Beach Elementary School M-F 7:30-3:00
• Raymond Ellis Elementary School M-F 7:30-3:00
• WJ Murphy Elementary School M-F 7:30-3:00

Must haves

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a Speech/Language Endorsement registered in Lake County

Day to Day

• This position identifies, evaluates and treats students with speech/language, auditory processing, feeding, and social language disorders which significantly impact the student's ability to participate successfully in educational, vocational, community and home environments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Clinical Expertise: Strong understanding of speech, language, voice, and hearing disorders and their treatment.
• Assessment & Evaluation: Skilled in diagnostic tools, language sampling, and evaluating speech-language status.
• Technology Proficiency: Familiar with MS Office, Boardmaker, and assistive communication devices.
• Legal & Ethical Knowledge: Understanding of state/federal regulations and professional ethics.
• Therapeutic Techniques: Proficient in interventions for speech/language, auditory processing, feeding, and social communication.
• Communication: Effective oral and written skills for presentations, documentation, and collaboration.
• Instructional Skills: Capable of developing and delivering individual/group therapy and instructional materials.
• Interpersonal Skills: Builds rapport with students, families, and staff; sensitive to diverse backgrounds.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Able to lead, instruct, and work within interdisciplinary teams.
• Confidentiality & Documentation: Maintains accurate records and handles sensitive information appropriately.

Essential Functions

• Diagnosis & Treatment: Evaluates and treats speech, language, voice, and feeding disorders using evidence-based methods.
• Program Support: Assists in implementing speech-language programs across district schools.
• Team Participation: Attends child study meetings, staff trainings, and serves as a speech-language consultant.
• Therapy Planning: Develops and implements IEP-aligned therapeutic materials and activities.
• Education & Training: Provides seminars and training to families, staff, and paraprofessionals.
• Documentation: Maintains records and prepares reports in compliance with regulations and district policies.
• Consultation: Reviews medical/psychological histories and collaborates on student support plans.
• Mobility: Travels between multiple district sites to provide services and attend meetings.
• Other Duties: Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
