Healthcare Customer Service Representative
LaSalle Network is hiring for a Customer Service Representative with a well-established nonprofit organization that administers healthcare and retirement benefits for union carpenters and their families throughout the Chicago area.
Supporting more than 70 employees across six service divisions, this organization is dedicated to providing exceptional service while helping members navigate health, dental, vision, disability and retirement benefits. Responsibilities:Answer inbound calls from members regarding health insurance and benefit plans
Assist with benefit eligibility, coverage questions and insurance-related inquiries
Explain healthcare terminology including deductibles, coinsurance, copays and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
Verify member information and update records accurately across multiple systems
Research and resolve benefit issues while providing outstanding customer service
Communicate with members, providers and internal teams to ensure timely resolution
Maintain detailed documentation while handling confidential information
Support additional administrative and departmental projects as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience in healthcare customer service, insurance or benefits administration
Experience working in a call center or high-volume customer service environment
Familiarity with Blue Cross Blue Shield or another commercial health insurance carrier
Understanding of employer-sponsored health insurance and benefits eligibility
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic insurance concepts
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
Ability to accept feedback and work collaboratively in a team environment
Bilingual Spanish and workers’ compensation experience are a plus

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $20-$21 per hour based on experience
