Summer Associate Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs VISTA
Summer Associates placed through the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs will be working on a variety of projects. All projects will focus on food security and food/nutrition education. These activities may include establishment/development of farmers markets, community gardens, gardening education, cooking classes, nutrition education materials development and distribution, etc.
Member Duties : Summer Associates will work with not-for-profits on food security projects. Some of these projects include working at a community garden and food donation program, educating low-income youth and adults on proper nutrition, helping to develop farmers' markets and promoting fresh, local food to the low-income residents of the area.
