Teacher K-3 small group
Job Description
Job Description
We’re seeking a dynamic, hands-on K–3rd Grade Teacher who thrives in a small group setting and is excited about differentiated instruction, science experiments, art integration, and project-based learning. In this role, you'll support 4–6 students at a time, each working on different standards based on their level and pace. Instruction is personalized, game-based, and often messy—perfect for someone who loves guiding young learners through deep, meaningful experiences.
Responsibilities
Teach small groups of K–3rd grade students using our strand-based curriculum aligned to Common Core standards
Differentiate instruction for each student, supporting individualized pacing through reading, writing, and math strands
Administer assessments for mastery before students move on to the next standard
Facilitate hands-on science instruction using the Real Science4Kids curriculum
Plan and lead messy, immersive STEAM projects that blend art, engineering, nature, and science
Integrate play-based and game-based strategies to foster engagement and conceptual understanding
Maintain a nurturing, stimulating, and organized classroom environment
Communicate progress and learning goals with the Director and parents as needed
Collaborate with a small, passionate team in a supportive and creative setting
Who You Are
Passionate about child development and individualized learning
Comfortable with open-ended, messy, hands-on learning (slime, paint, glue, sand—you name it!)
Strong classroom management and small group teaching skills
Excellent at differentiating instruction and supporting a wide range of learners
Flexible, creative, and eager to adapt to a non-traditional school model
Curious and collaborative, with a love for science, STEM, and child-led exploration
Enjoy learning new things every day and working closely with children
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (Early Childhood Education a plus)
Experience teaching K–3rd grade in small group or individualized settings
Familiarity with Common Core standards and progress monitoring
Background in Reggio, Montessori, or project-based learning strongly preferred
Experience working with Real Science4Kids or similar hands-on science curricula is a plus
Must love working with children and be excited to build relationships with them through play and learning
Must currently live in the Chicagoland area
This Role Is Not a Good Fit If You:
Prefer traditional whole-group instruction or scripted curriculum
Are uncomfortable with sensory-rich or messy environments
Are uncomfortable working closely with children and bonding with them
Struggle with anxiety
Prefer rigid schedules over flexible, responsive teaching
To Apply:
Send your resume and a short cover letter explaining why you'd thrive in our creative, curiosity-driven environment to [email protected] .
Come help us reimagine what school can be—one joyful, hands-on learning day at a time.
