3D Laser Scanning Technician

Overview

The Wassi Group is a building documentation firm based in Morton, Illinois. We serve architects, engineers, contractors, and facility managers across Central Illinois and beyond — combining 3D laser scanning, CAD drafting, and BIM modeling to deliver accurate existing conditions documentation that project teams can build from.

Responsibilities

As a 3D Laser Scanning Technician, you'll play a key role in capturing accurate existing conditions data across a wide variety of project types — from residential renovations and commercial facilities to industrial plants and historic structures. Your work directly impacts the quality and confidence of every project that flows through our office.

What You'll Do

• Operate 3D laser scanning equipment in the field across a range of project environments
• Capture accurate point cloud data of existing buildings, facilities, and structures
• Manage and process scan data for use in Revit modeling and CAD drafting workflows
• Collaborate with the project team to ensure scan data meets project requirements
• Maintain and care for scanning equipment and related technology
• Travel to project sites across Central Illinois and surrounding regions as needed

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy
• Comfortable working both independently in the field and collaboratively in the office
• Interest or experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with 3D laser scanning equipment or point cloud data is a plus — but not required
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or similar software is a plus
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work in a variety of field environments including industrial and construction sites

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $18 — $25 per hour, based on experience
