• Location: Springfield, IL 62781
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 09/02/2025 – End: 12/02/2025)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2050
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Level I Trauma Center, Magnet facility
• Unit: Medical/Surgical (Average Daily Census: 21)
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• Parking: Free with permit (provided during orientation)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical Surgical RN experience required
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (or in application process with ETA to apply)
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Proficient in IV therapy and phlebotomy: blood product administration, peripheral line care, PICC line management
• Experience with isolation precautions and infection control
• Ability to float within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment spans holiday periods
• Open to both travel nurses and local candidates

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Medical Surgical unit
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage IVs and central lines
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as GI bleed, bowel obstruction, colon cancer, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, alcohol withdrawal, appendicitis, and pancreatitis
• Perform special procedures: TPN administration, NG tube insertion, tube feedings, and heparin drips
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate electronic documentation using Cerner
• Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as required to meet patient care needs
