Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift

Location: South Holland, IL
Shift: 2nd Shift | 6 days | 2pm-10pm (overtime available)
Pay: $30–$35/hr

Position Overview

Seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support production operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining processing, packaging, and facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment using mechanical and electrical skills.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Repair and maintain processing and packaging machinery.
• Support maintenance of HVAC systems, boilers, air compressors, and refrigeration systems.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, welding, AC drive, and PLC-related equipment issues.
• Read blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
• Install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment and machinery.
• Communicate with vendors and equipment manufacturers regarding repairs and technical support.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following company safety procedures.
• Assist other maintenance personnel and support production teams as needed.
• Report equipment issues, system malfunctions, and operational concerns to leadership.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience within manufacturing, food production, or packaging environments preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, machining, plumbing, and facility maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and technical schematics.
• Experience with conveyors, processing equipment, and packaging machinery.
• PLC troubleshooting experience preferred, especially Allen Bradley systems.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Working Environment

• Cold manufacturing environment below 40°F
• Standing for extended periods
• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting
• Overtime and weekend work as needed
• Fast-paced production setting
