CNC Programmer

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for milling, turning, and multi spindle machines.

• Determine tooling, workholding, speeds/feeds, and machining strategies for new and existing parts.

• Support setup personnel during machine setups, first-piece validation, and troubleshooting.

• Lead or contribute to process improvement projects aimed at reducing cycle time, improving quality, and increasing machine utilization.

• Coordinate machining activities across multiple machines and operators to maintain workflow and meet production schedules.

• Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications to ensure accurate part production.

• Conduct root-cause analysis for machining issues and implement corrective actions.

• Maintain accurate documentation for programs, revisions, and processes.

Essential Skills

• Proficient at programming using Mastercam 2019 or similar.

• Ability to set-up jobs in the most effective and efficient manner.

• A high degree of flexibility to quickly shift tasks as priorities demand.

• Must be able to consistently hold tolerances of +/- .002".

• Ability to mentor others.

• 3-5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.

• Proficiency in Mastercam (milling & turning modules).

• Hands-on experience with multi spindle or multi axis CNC equipment.

• Strong experience in both milling and turning operations.

• Proven experience leading or supporting continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.

• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, GD&T, tooling, and quality standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mokena, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $57.69/hr.
