Overview:
As a Full Stack Engineer at Agile Defense, you will be joining a team of professionals that secure, scalable data architectures and AI/ML pipelines. This role will support data science and engineering activities, partnering with product teams, data engineers, mission stakeholders, and technologists to unlock the value of structured and unstructured data in support of national defense priorities. You will implement data engineering activities and develop and deploy the pipelines and platforms that organize and make complicated data meaningful.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Objective 1: Build and Deploy Scalable Full Stack Applications in Cloud Environments
Design, build, and maintain secure, containerized applications across the full stack using technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
Implement server-side logic, RESTful APIs, and microservices using Spring Boot, Node.js , or similar frameworks.
Develop rich, accessible front-end interfaces using React, Angular, or Vue, with a strong eye for usability and accessibility.
Deploy, monitor, and maintain production systems using DevSecOps tools like Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, and AWS-native services.
Objective 2: Integrate AI/ML Capabilities into Secure Production Systems
Collaborate with data scientists to support the deployment of ML models and data pipelines into secure cloud environments.
Implement application logic that leverages AI/ML components and contributes to automated analytics or prediction workflows.
Ensure technical performance and security hardening of services that handle model outputs and mission-relevant data.
Design APIs and service layers that expose ML models or data-driven recommendations to end users or other services.
Objective 3: Drive Quality Through Agile, Test-Driven Development
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and estimation with an Agile team to align delivery priorities and technical architecture.
Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using modern frameworks to validate business logic and guard against regressions.
Conduct code reviews, contribute to shared coding standards, and continuously improve team velocity and product quality.
Automate development workflows and build CI/CD pipelines that support efficient, secure code delivery and deployment.
Objective 4: Contribute to Technical Problem Solving and System Improvement
Investigate production incidents and system errors, perform root cause analysis and propose fixes.
Optimize performance, availability, and cost-efficiency of services operating in AWS cloud environments.
Identify opportunities to refactor codebases, improve infrastructure-as-code templates, or streamline container deployment pipelines.
Collaborate with platform and cybersecurity engineers to ensure compliance with DoD cloud and application security standards.
Required Skills/Qualifications :
·5+ years of experience in full stack development within enterprise environments.
·3+ years deploying AI/ML-enabled applications in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
· Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Java, Kotlin, Go) and frontend frameworks (React, Angular).
· Experience building and integrating APIs and services using RESTful design patterns.
· Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, containers (Docker), and IaC (Terraform).
· Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines, Agile delivery, and secure coding practices.
· Exposure to Databricks, Palantir Foundry, or similar platforms is a plus.
· Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, information systems, engineering, or other related technical discipline
