The main function of an embedded software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the embedded software and systems that make computers work. A typical embedded software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications. Job Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment for product lines.
- Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding dscriptions.
- Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
- Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
- Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
- Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Solid programming experience in C or C++
- Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to embedded systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc. Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.

- This position is for a software developer as part of automation & autonomy teams creating solutions for heavy-duty equipment / machines. This individual will also help with product integration. Reason/motivation for request:

- The software engineer role will work on automation & autonomy products to create solutions to solve our customers’ needs in harsh production environments. Typical task breakdown:
- Design and develop automation & autonomy features for real-time control systems
- Generate requirements
- Collaborate with the team members for the design approach to develop the features
- Develop the features
- Issue resolution through triage and troubleshooting
- Test plan development and software validation
- Coordination with system engineers, machine systems, software and validation teams Interaction with team:
- The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test robust, scalable features on embedded electronic control systems for use in automation & autonomy machine applications. Team Structure

- Years of experience: 4 years of relevant experience; Masters – 3 years
- Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical field;

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
- 4 years of relevant engineering development work experience in embedded software development, systems design, or product validation.
- 4 years of embedded C/C++ experience.
- 4 years of embedded system development experience in Linux & RTOS
- Strong understanding of integrating sensors
- Great teamwork, communication, analysis, and troubleshooting skills are required.
- The individual should be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to learn at an accelerated pace, and willing to put in the time to get the job done. (Desired)
- Experience in the areas of robotics, remote control, or autonomy
- Experience with datalinks (CAN, Ethernet, etc.) and associated tools (CANape, Wireshark, etc.)
- Experience with software development tools such as git, debuggers, and compilers
- Extensive experience with Linux-based software development
- Experience with ROS
- Experience with perception and positioning sensor configuration and calibration
- Experience with User Interface software development in Qt framework
- Experience with FMEA processes and a basic knowledge of electronic system failure modes
- Experience developing with embedded real-time software or systems for mobile, earthmoving, agricultural, industrial, or off-highway applications Soft Skills
