Senior CNC Turning Setup Machinist (G & M Code)

Join a stable, growing precision manufacturer in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and take charge of complex CNC lathe work from first piece to final inspection. As a seasoned, hands-on machinist, you’ll lead setups, make on-the-fly G & M code edits, and collaborate closely with engineering to keep quality high and production on track.

A Day in the Life

You arrive to a clean, well-organized shop and prep a modern CNC-controlled lathe for a new run. You load a program, refine G & M code as needed, dial in offsets, and prove out the job. Throughout the shift, you measure critical features with micrometers, calipers, and gauges to hold tight tolerances, document results, and communicate with supervision to resolve any machining challenges. When the next job hits the schedule, you pivot efficiently—retooling, resetting, and repeating with precision.

What You’ll Handle

• Set up and operate CNC-controlled lathes end-to-end
• Load, edit, and troubleshoot G & M code programs
• Perform tool changes, set offsets, and prove out new and repeat jobs
• Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T requirements
• Inspect parts using precision metrology (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
• Meet production deadlines while upholding strict quality standards
• Partner with engineering and supervision to resolve machining issues

What You Bring

• 5+ years of CNC lathe machining experience
• Deep knowledge of lathe setups and G & M code programming
• Ability to read complex blueprints and consistently hold tight tolerances
• Experience machining steel, stainless, and aluminum
• Self-directed, reliable, and quality-focused work style

Schedule & Compensation

• 1st Shift (daytime hours)
