TekPro Engineering is partnering with a leading food manufacturer in Bartlett, IL to hire a seasoned Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration Technician . This is a direct-hire opportunity on the 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) where your expertise keeps production moving safely and efficiently.

A Night in the Engine Room

At 10:00 PM, you take over the engine room. You walk the floor, check pressures and temperatures, listen to compressors, and verify condensers and evaporators are performing. You review PSM logs, confirm EPA documentation is current, and ensure every reading makes sense. When an alarm hits, you respond quickly—diagnosing issues across refrigeration, air compressors, boilers, and plant utilities. You adjust setpoints for optimal efficiency, perform preventive tasks before they become breakdowns, and document everything with precision.

What You’ll Tackle

• Operate, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and related utilities (compressors, condensers, evaporators).
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to keep uptime high and systems safe.
• Optimize performance through data-driven adjustments while maintaining safety as the top priority.
• Maintain accurate logs and documentation in alignment with PSM and EPA requirements.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration, air compressors, boilers, and other utilities with urgency and care.
• Follow Safety, GMP, and environmental procedures; support audits and inspections.

What You Bring

• 3+ years working on industrial ammonia systems (food manufacturing preferred).
• Strong grasp of PSM, EPA, and OSHA regulatory frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in engine room operations and utility systems (compressors, condensers, air handling, HVAC ).
• Ability to read P&IDs , electrical schematics, and refrigeration diagrams.
• RETA certification or Operator I/II preferred.
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, refrigerated production environment.
• Flexibility for overtime or weekend work when needed.
