Café Team Member (Cross-Trained)
The Café Team Member is cross-trained as a cashier, barista, and sandwich maker, allowing them to confidently support every part of the café guest experience. Whether greeting guests, preparing exceptional coffee, crafting beautiful sandwiches, or keeping the café clean and organized, every team member plays an important role in delivering the exceptional hospitality and quality that define Logan Inn.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on position for someone who genuinely enjoys taking care of people, loves exceptional food and coffee, and thrives as part of a collaborative team.
The Café Team Member reports to the Café Manager and General Manager.

Team members are expected to become proficient in every café station while maintaining high standards of hospitality, product knowledge, cleanliness, efficiency, and teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities Guest Experience- Welcome every guest with warmth, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality.
- Take orders accurately, confidently answer menu questions, and make thoughtful recommendations.
- Build genuine connections that make guests feel welcomed and remembered.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally while creating memorable experiences.
- Prepare espresso drinks, coffee, tea, sandwiches, pastries, salads, and other café offerings according to Logan Inn recipes and standards.
- Prepare every beverage and food item with consistency, speed, precision, and attention to detail.
- Maintain espresso equipment, beverage stations, product rotation (FIFO), labeling, dating, and food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked café at all times.
- Complete opening, closing, side work, dishwashing, stocking, and general cleaning responsibilities.
- Bus tables, maintain the lounge, and leave every station better than you found it.
- Follow all Company policies, dress code, attendance standards, health and safety procedures, and food safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with every member of the Logan Inn team.
- Bring a consistently positive attitude toward guests, teammates, and yourself. Positivity is non-negotiable.
- Receive coaching with humility and actively pursue continuous improvement.
- Attend staff meetings and required training sessions while helping build a culture rooted in kindness, accountability, urgency, quality, and hospitality.
- Previous café, coffee shop, restaurant, bakery, deli, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
- Passion for people, hospitality, specialty coffee, and thoughtfully prepared food.
- Comfortable working all café stations, including cashier, espresso bar, sandwich station, pastry service, prep, and general café support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and hospitable in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds, including up and down a flight of stairs.
- Must possess or obtain a valid Illinois Food Handler Certificate within the required timeframe after hire.
$15.00/hour + Tips. This is a non-exempt hourly position paid weekly in accordance with Company payroll policies. Employees are eligible for overtime and participation in Logan Inn's tip-sharing program in accordance with applicable laws and Company policy.
