Springfield, IL Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Location: Springfield, Illinois 62781
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
• Contract Duration: 16 weeks (10/6/2025 – 1/26/2026)
• Shift: 4x10-hour day shifts (06:45 – 17:15)
• Weekly Hours: 40
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,450–$2,510 per week
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
• On-Call: Yes, approximately 1 per week
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Parking: Free permit provided

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in an acute care or hospital setting
• Active Illinois RN license (or in application process)
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
• Level I trauma nursing experience required
• General OR and trauma experience required
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility to qualify for travel nursing
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• CNOR and CST certifications preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Circulate and/or scrub in a wide range of surgical procedures (excluding CV service line)
• Deliver care for trauma, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency cases
• Demonstrate proficiency in procedures such as laparoscopic, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, cervical/lumbar fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reduction, free flap microvascular, organ donation, cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA (multiple injuries)
• Respond to emergency situations, including code response and fire safety
• Utilize specialized surgical equipment: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables
• Maintain infection control, radiation safety, and specimen handling protocols
• Float within skill set to support facility needs (rarely required)
• Participate in on-call rotation and complete one weekend shift per month
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
