Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant
Parente & Norem, P.C. is now seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Legal Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast paced legal environment and has hands-on experience handling Illinois workers’ compensation matters from intake through settlement. We are looking for someone who believes in a client first approach, is eager to learn, and a self starter.
While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with all aspects of Illinois workers’ compensation cases
- Prepare and file documents with the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC)
- Coordinate and track Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs)
- Maintain case files, deadlines, and hearing schedules
- Communicate with clients, medical providers, employers, and insurance adjusters
- Manage Temporary Total Disability (TTD) status updates and related documentation
- Draft correspondence and routine legal documents
- Request and organize medical records and billing records
- Assist with settlement documents and case resolution
- Perform general case management and administrative support functions
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of legal assistant experience, but willing to train right candidate
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required
- Working knowledge of Illinois workers’ compensation procedures and terminology
- Experience with e-filing and case management
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines xrczosw in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems preferred
