Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer who will be responsible for the design and modeling of large sheet metal enclosures. This role includes designing, modeling, detailing, and collaborating with the production floor until project release. You will also create bills of materials, assess usability, environmental impact, and safety of designs, and calculate and simulate stress tests, tolerances, and trajectories. Working closely with project managers and engineering teams, you will integrate designs and enhance product specifications. This role involves prototyping, modifying designs based on trial runs and feedback, running your own projects, and maintaining constant communication with vendors and customers regarding project completion.
Responsibilities

Design and model large sheet metal enclosures.

Detail and collaborate with the production floor until project release.

Create bills of materials.

Assess usability, environmental impact, and safety of designs.

Calculate and simulate stress tests, tolerances, and trajectories.

Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to integrate designs and enhance product specifications.

Run your own projects.

Essential Skills
-
Proficiency in Solidworks and/or 3D AutoCAD.

Experience with sheet metal design and modeling.

Project engineering experience.

Ability to manage and run projects independently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
1+ years of experience in design engineering.
-
Associates or BS degree is a plus.
-
Experience with motors, drives, or pneumatics is advantageous.

Experience in project engineering is beneficial.
-
Experience with enclosures or machine tools is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is within a midsize, privately held company that operates in a clean and fast-paced environment. The company designs and manufactures sheet metal enclosures and other special fabrications for metal cutting machines, ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and addressing safety concerns, coolant, and chip containment, while providing an aesthetically pleasing look to the machines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
