Parks Plus Fitness Service Desk Attendant - Part-time

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the efficient operation of the Fitness Center service desk.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent with previous experience working with computers and the public. Must be familiar with the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have good organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Become knowledgeable in all Parks Plus Fitness Center programs and services.
- Sell and promote PPFC, including but not limited to: memberships, personal training packages, group fitness memberships, Kidz Kingdom services, and fitness programs.
- Utilize the park district’s recreation software to input sales and check in members.
- Basic technological understanding of a comprehensive television system, having the ability to change the television station upon a member’s request in a timely manner (no more than 10 minutes).
- Answer all phone calls within 4 rings when at the Service Desk, direct calls to the correct Park District employee, and record messages when needed ensuring that the message is delivered to the correct individual.
- Check service desk email each shift.
- Maintain fitness center floor, including checking supplies located on the fitness center floor each shift and ensuring that supplies are replenished as needed (including paper towels, hand sanitizer, etc.); empty trash cans; and pick up small items from the floor.
- Greet and acknowledge members and guests entering Parks Plus Fitness through providing quality customer service.
- Wash and fold towels.
- Process paperwork correctly for all new and renewal memberships, member changes, and cancellations.
- Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
- Follow the Wheaton Park District and Parks Plus Fitness Center policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proactively support the Districts Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, ETC
Must have and maintain: current CPR/AED certification or obtain within three (3) months of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to: frequently remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally position ones’ self to grasp towels moving them from bin into washer, then dryer, and then fold them; perform light cleaning duties; and move items weighing up to 10 lbs.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position will primarily work in the fitness center and may be exposed to dust, odors, and cleaning chemicals and use precautions while handling patron’s used towels which could be contaminated with bodily fluids.
HOURS
Tuesday and Thursdays 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. permanently. There will also be subbing opportunities
SALARY
$15.00 per hour
SALARY RANGE
Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum
$15.00 - $18.75 - $22.50
