Estimator
Job Description
Job Description
Description:
ATMI Precast is not your average construction company. You will join a high-performing team that values clear communication, strong processes, and doing things the right way. Our leadership is approachable, our projects are meaningful, and your work will make a real difference.
As an Estimator at ATMI Precast, you will play a key role in the early stages of our projects — analyzing drawings, calculating costs, and developing proposals that help bring large-scale structures to life. You’ll collaborate directly with sales, engineering, and project management teams while building lasting relationships with general contractors, architects, and partners in the field. This position is ideal for someone who loves numbers, details, and problem-solving within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Summary
The Estimator is responsible for collecting and analyzing data to develop accurate cost estimates for precast concrete construction projects. This role supports the sales team in pricing, proposal preparation, and client communications while ensuring cost accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability. The Estimator also represents ATMI’s values and professionalism when engaging with customers and partners.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and proposals to prepare detailed time, cost, and labor estimates
- Prepare and deliver accurate project bids, itemized pricing, and proposal documents
- Maintain complete and organized estimating files and bid logs
- Collaborate with the sales and engineering teams to evaluate project scope, materials, and constructability
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, architects, and design professionals
- Analyze cost data and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiency
- Present budgets, reports, and project cost summaries to management and clients
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure estimates align with production capabilities and schedules
- Stay current with market conditions, building codes, materials, and construction methods
- Visit job sites as needed to verify conditions or review project scope
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and client presentations
- Perform additional tasks and assist with special projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required
- Minimum of five years of construction industry experience, ideally within precast, steel, or concrete sectors
- Strong knowledge of reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
- Excellent math skills, including algebra, geometry, and cost modeling
- Experience using estimating software such as Bluebeam and familiarity with 3D modeling software (Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, or BIM)
- Knowledge of current building codes and construction methods
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer applications
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and work under tight deadlines
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service orientation
Environment and Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to job sites or client offices
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
- May occasionally work extended hours during bid deadlines
