Job Title: Senior Project Manager – Structural Steel (PM III)

Location: Illinois (MidWest)

Travel: ~10% Travel or None

Compensation - $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 + 20% Bonus

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with 7–10 years of structural steel construction experience to lead and oversee multiple commercial structural steel projects across the Southeast region. This role requires a hands-on leader who understands the full lifecycle of structural steel projects—from preconstruction planning and drawing review through field execution and project closeout.

The ideal candidate will come from a commercial structural steel contractor or fabricator/erector environment and have strong expertise in steel erection, blueprint interpretation, field coordination, and problem-solving across multiple active job sites. Projects range from $100K to $3–4MM , requiring strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee multiple commercial structural steel projects simultaneously from kickoff through completion.
• Coordinate and support field crews, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient steel erection and installation.
• Review and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and blueprints to ensure accurate project execution.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, general contractors, engineers, fabricators, and field teams.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to keep projects on track and within scope.
• Identify and proactively resolve field issues, design conflicts, and construction challenges to prevent delays.
• Oversee procurement, fabrication coordination, and delivery schedules for structural steel materials.
• Conduct regular site visits and project meetings to monitor progress and ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain strong focus on jobsite safety, compliance, and company standards.
• Prepare and track RFIs, change orders, progress reports, and project documentation.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience managing commercial buildings/erections on structural steel construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of structural steel erection, fabrication processes, and field operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and crews ranging from $100K to $3–4MM.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, and shop drawings.
• Experience coordinating construction crews, field teams, and subcontractors.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience managing multiple job sites simultaneously.
• Proficiency with construction management software and project documentation tools preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
