Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (Night Shift)

Location - Syracuse, NY

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse for night shift coverage in a high-acuity emergency care environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable treating both adult and pediatric patients and can deliver safe, efficient care with minimal supervision.

Shift Details

• Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

• Schedule: Includes every other weekend and select holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients.

• Perform rapid and thorough patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity.

• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per established protocols.

• Respond to emergency situations, trauma activations, and critical events.

• Accurately document patient care using an electronic medical record system.

• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams.

• Maintain compliance with safety standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Deliver high-quality patient care with minimal orientation and supervision.

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license

• BLS certification (must be current and maintain recertification)

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Emergency Department experience (within the past 2 years) in an acute care hospital of similar size and acuity

• Ability to work legally in the United States

• Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and background check

• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills

• No history of professional license suspension, investigation, or professional liability claims

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center

• Experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients

• Prior experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Records

• Travelers with experience in hospitals of equal or greater size or trauma designation

Required & Desired Skills

• Emergency Department nursing experience (minimum 2 years required)

• Level 1 trauma hospital experience (highly desired)

• EPIC EMR experience (highly desired)

• Active New York State RN license
