Associate Attorney – Global Transportation Finance (Chicago, IL)

Direct Counsel is partnering with a leading national law firm to identify an Associate Attorney with 2–6 years of transactional experience to join its Global Transportation Finance practice in Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to work with a sophisticated team handling high-value transactions in the aviation, maritime, and broader transportation sectors for domestic and international clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent lenders, lessors, financial institutions, and operators in transportation finance transactions

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and financing documents

• Support partners and senior attorneys on cross-border and asset-backed transactions

• Manage components of deals with increasing autonomy

• Conduct due diligence and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams

Qualifications:

• 2–6 years of transactional experience, ideally in finance, corporate, or asset-based transactions

• Strong drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills

• Experience with transportation, aviation, maritime, or equipment finance is a plus but not required

• Admission to the Illinois Bar (or willingness to obtain)

• Excellent academic credentials and attention to detail
