We are currently seeking a Snowflake Architect to join our team in Chicago, Illinois (US-IL), United States (US).

NTT DATA is seeking a Lead Snowflake Data Architect to design, modernize, and lead enterprise-scale data platforms on Snowflake running on Microsoft Azure . This role will play a critical part in defining target-state architectures, leading large-scale migrations from legacy data warehouses, and guiding teams delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing analytics platforms.

You will partner closely with business stakeholders, cloud engineers, and data engineering teams to translate business needs into robust Snowflake-based solutions that support analytics, BI, and downstream data products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of Snowflake-based data platforms on Azure, integrating with services such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, Azure Functions, Key Vault, and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
• Define and implement data modeling standards including star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modeling, and data vault patterns to support analytics and reporting use cases.
• Design secure, scalable, and cost-efficient Snowflake environments, including databases, schemas, roles, virtual warehouses, resource monitors, and governance structures.
• Own the migration strategy and roadmap for transitioning data from legacy or on‑premise platforms to Snowflake on Azure.
• Assess current-state environments (source systems, ETL, reporting, data quality) and design target-state architectures aligned to business and technical goals.
• Define migration waves and phases, including data profiling, schema conversion, historical and incremental loads, reconciliation, and cutover strategies.
• Oversee and implement data ingestion pipelines from diverse sources (databases, files, APIs, streaming) into ADLS and Snowflake using Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and CDC patterns where applicable.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and performance parity (or improvement) through reconciliation, validation, and optimization.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers and ETL developers delivering Snowflake-based platforms and migrations.
• Establish and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake objects (SQL, views, stored procedures, streams, tasks).
• Design and implement ELT/ETL patterns across staging, raw, curated, and semantic layers using tools such as dbt, ADF, Synapse, or Databricks.
• Implement automated testing and monitoring frameworks including unit tests, regression tests, data quality checks, and SLA monitoring.
• Optimize Snowflake workloads through query profiling, clustering strategies, warehouse sizing, auto-scaling, and cost controls.
• Implement resource monitors and consumption governance to manage Snowflake compute usage effectively.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Analytics .
• 5+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience in production environments.
• 4+ years of strong SQL expertise and deep understanding of modern cloud-based data architectures.
• Ability to travel 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading at least one large-scale end-to-end migration from on‑premise or legacy data warehouses to Snowflake on Azure (e.g., Netezza, Yellowbrick, Oracle, SQL Server).
• Strong experience with Azure cloud services , including:
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
  • Azure Databricks and/or Synapse
  • Azure Key Vault
  • Azure DevOps or GitHub
• Experience implementing CI/CD, testing, and data quality frameworks in modern data platforms.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
