Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical - Urology/Nephrology position at a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting — 562-bed, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center
• 25-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology with an average daily census of 23
• Patient population includes renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis management, and genitourinary cases
• Specialized skills utilized include remote telemetry monitoring, rapid response team activation, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and heparin administration
• IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Additional clinical skills required: wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and oral suctioning
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Medical Surgical units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry work setting experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have a solid Med/Surg nursing foundation with 2+ years of experience
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO requests should ideally be no more than 5 days; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval
• Any former permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• Free parking is available on-site via a permit obtained during orientation
• 13-week contract
