Job Title: Production Assistant
Work Location: 135 N. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60612
Hourly Rate: $16-18, based on experience
Employment Type: Part Time/Seasonal
Operating Hours: M-F, 10-6, occasional weekends as needed
Work Hours: 10-6 with some flexibility; 16-36 hours /week as season dictates; potential for more based on projects and performance

Job Summary:
We are looking for a Food Handling & Production Assistant to join our growing team. This person will play a pivotal role in ensuring our production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing recipe ingredients, preparing packaging, weighing, portioning and packaging final product, shipping, receiving shipments, stocking, tracking inventory and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of all work areas. May also include light computer work and supporting event setup/take-down.
The ideal candidate is passionate about food, team-oriented, customer-focused, reliable and operates with high integrity and positivity. They maintain excellent organizational skills, pay attention to details, hygiene, and aesthetics, take initiative and can work quickly, yet safely.
Key Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
Culinary:
- Prepare, scale and organize recipe ingredients (mise en place)
- Complete traceability and batch logs
- Dishwashing
- Label and prepare packaging
Culinary (continued):
- Portion and weigh product with minimal waste
- Package final product according to brand standards
- Package client orders for shipment according to brand standards
- Clean and sanitize workstations
- Execute opening/closing checklists, including sweeping, mopping and trash duties
Inventory:
- Receive, log and stock incoming supplies
- Help track product, packaging and supply inventory
- Light computer work (occasional)
Additional responsibilities:
- Comply with all facility/city/state safety and sanitation guidelines and requirements
- Track all relevant personal license/certification expiration dates
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Additional duties to support the business, as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous food handling experience
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and handling
- Ability to stand for 8 hours
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills/MS365 proficiency, a plus
Certificate & Licensing Requirements:
- ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
- ServeSave Food Manager’s Certificate (preferred)
- City of Chicago Food Service Manager Certificate (preferred)
