WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:


Authorization
Specialist, Full-time


Location: On- Site Arlington Heights

Days/Hours: Monday- Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM


OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Contact referring provider's office to request clinical notes and follow-up, track progress

  • Assist with the rescheduling list, reschedule appointments as needed
  • Keep track of any incoming faxes in Updox

  • Assist with Auth Help Chats, Klara, and emails
  • Working along with the authorization department team and assisting in other areas as needed

  • Review chart documentation to ensure the patient meets medical policy guidelines
  • Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to the urgency, tracking process and status
  • Obtain authorization via the payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases
  • Maintain individual payer files to include up-to-date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations
  • Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses on the procedure order
  • Review accounts with HMO plans and ensure that all required referrals are obtained from the referring provider prior to the appointment date
  • Contact patients to discuss authorization status
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

QUALITIES YOU SHOULD POSSESS:


  • Knowledge of authorization procedure and its direct impact on the practice’s revenue cycle
  • Understanding of payer medical policy guidelines while utilizing these guidelines to manage authorizations effectively
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, specifically musculoskeletal
  • Proficient use of CPT and ICD-10 codes

  • Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively
  • Ability to multitask and remain focused while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workload

  • Solid, concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Highly focused on detail, exceptional organizational and follow-through abilities
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to any disruptions or changes in the day
  • Ability to be resourceful and self-reliant to take initiative making decisions when issues arise

  • Possess information research skills and accurate data entry skills

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of medical prior authorization experience preferred 2 years experience in a medical-related field required
