POSITION OVERVIEW

Minimum Years of Experience Required: 3 Years

Working Location: Candidates with 3+ years of experience are eligible for in-office, hybrid, or fully remote schedules. Preference will be given to candidates based in the Chicagoland area. Relocation subsidies are available for those moving from outside the region. At least 2 visits (per year) to the Chicago headquarters are required. Please note candidates must be able, willing and excited to travel.

Salary Range: $75k-$95k

The exact salary will vary based on years of experience and the level of proficiency in both hard and soft skills. It is uncommon for someone to be hired at the highest point of the salary range for their position. Job Description

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

ALIS is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, including the preparation of financial statements, management of accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations.
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and regulations
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including monthly account reconciliations and general ledger entries
  • Analyze general ledger balances, investigate variances, review account reconciliations
  • Lead daily accounting activities to ensure proper recording of transactions according to GAAP standards
  • Assist with accounts payable and receivable activities
  • Respond and assist with invoice questions or billing statements
  • Manage credit card reconciliations
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Assist in business system implementation projects
  • Prepare schedules and support documentation for monthly reporting and annual audit
  • Manage ad hoc projects as needed
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Ability to effectively manage, analyze and manipulate large data sets with both solutions
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus)

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience and interest in optimizing accounting and FP&A processes
  • Experience and interest in aligning data systems and reporting platforms
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience and familiarity with cloud-based accounting and finance tech platforms such as Sage Intacct and Rippling
  • Experience in SaaS industry
  • Willingness to travel if not local to Chicago

Application Process:

No formal cover letter is needed but please include a few sentences describing why you are applying for this position specifically.

ALIS asks certain candidates for quick phone calls to gather additional information – these usually last about 5 minutes and are scheduled in advance and according to your schedule. Candidates who move forward in the process will then participate in a 30-minute interview with our Controller. Those selected to proceed will have a second 30-minute interview with our CFO. Final-round candidates will be invited to travel onsite for in-person interviews. ALIS will cover all in-person travel-related expenses. Candidates residing in border states within a four-hour drive or less will be reimbursed for mileage.
