Strategic Technical Account Manager - On-site
Aqueity, a leading IT Managed Services Provider, is looking for a skilled Strategic Technical Account Manager to join our team! This position is based out of our Downers Grove, IL office and is responsible for serving as a senior technical advisor to both prospective and existing clients. The Strategic Technical Account Manager works closely with clients to align business objectives with secure, scalable, and practical IT strategies through technical assessments, solution design, strategic roadmapping, and executive-level consulting.
This role collaborates across Sales, Client Success, Managed Services, and Professional Services to help scope and shape technology initiatives that drive meaningful client outcomes while supporting Aqueity’s managed services and professional services growth objectives. This position is ideal for a professional with strong technical consulting, account management, and relationship-building skills who thrives in a fast-paced MSP environment and is passionate about delivering strategic value and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Technical Discovery & Solution Strategy- Conduct technical assessments for prospective and existing clients to identify technology gaps, risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate business objectives into practical, cost-effective technology strategies across cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and managed services.
- Design scalable, secure, and supportable technical solutions aligned with client business, operational, and compliance requirements.
- Identify operational and process improvement opportunities across client environments.
Internal Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with Sales, Client Success, Managed Services, and Professional Services teams to develop client-focused solutions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to address escalated client concerns, improve service outcomes, and support successful delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of opportunities, estimates and initiatives within CRM system.
- Stay current on industry trends, cybersecurity standards, Microsoft platform capabilities, and emerging technologies relevant to Aqueity’s clients:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical and executive audiences
- History of advising business leaders on strategic IT decisions
- Excellent presentation, documentation, organization, and client relationship management skills
- Proven ability to balance technical depth with commercial practicality when shaping client recommendations and solution scope.

Strategic Client Advisory
- Own the development of strategic technology roadmaps that prioritize client risks, business needs, modernization initiatives, and future project opportunities.
- Lead strategic client meetings, Strategic Business Reviews, roadmap discussions, and executive-level technology planning conversations.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor within strategic and priority client relationships.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and internal technical teams to support alignment, communication, and successful transitions from planning through execution.
- Proactively surface emerging client needs, risks, and opportunities that may require additional technology planning or services.
Pre-Sales & Solution Development
- Support pre-sales scoping, service quoting, and technical validation of proposals.
- Develop and document Statements of Work, technical recommendations, architecture plans, network diagrams, and related solution materials.
- Deliver technical presentations that educate clients on Aqueity’s capabilities, recommended solutions, and strategic value.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience)
- 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, pre-sales engineering, technical account management, vCIO responsibilities, or similar client-facing roles within an MSP or IT services environment
- Experience working with PSA platforms, CRM systems, quoting tools, RMM platforms, documentation/knowledge base systems, and related service delivery technologies (experience with ConnectWise strongly preferred)
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and MSP service delivery models, including hands-on familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, identity and access management, networking, endpoint management, and security platforms
- Exposure to AI and automation technologies, including LLMs, AI-driven workflows, and agentic AI platforms preferred
- Familiarity with industry-specific business applications such as ERP, CRM, MRP, and WMS platforms preferred
- Experience with or exposure to compliance requirements and/or IT audit practices is preferred
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies and IT service delivery best practices
