The Behavioral Research Coordinator I is an integral member of the Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) within the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute Office of Clinical & Community Trials. This role supports multiple school-based behavioral health research studies in collaboration with principal investigators. CCR partners with schools and youth-serving organizations to develop, evaluate, and implement culturally responsive, evidence-based mental health practices that increase access and reduce mental health disparities where kids live, learn and play. Essential Job Functions:
Assists with behavioral research projects, including study start-up, protocol coordination, and close-out activities.
Maintains adherence to study protocols and regulatory standards.
Coordinates with other departments to ensure effective implementation of research projects.
Supports the development, implementation, and tracking of studies with minimal supervision.
Assists with the preparation of protocols, informed consents, recruitment materials, modifications, renewals, and maintains study documentation via regulatory binders.
Identifies, recruits, and guides eligible study participants through the informed consent/assent process.
Assists in delivering behavioral interventions and arranging study visits; provide instructions to participants and their families.
Abstracts data from medical records and enter it into case report forms and electronic systems such as REDCap; prepares data for analysis.
Creates and updates research-related forms, templates, and assists in managing participant reimbursements.
Conducts literature searches, assists with QA/QC procedures, and tracks deadlines for grants and deliverables while adhering to research protocols and compliance regulations.
Promotes the ethical conduct of research by actively participating in research related educational meetings/conferences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree required. A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the duties of the job.
1. Study Coordination & Regulatory Support
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of school- and community-based research and evaluation projects focused on children’s behavioral health, trauma-responsive practices, school safety, and systems-level mental health initiatives.
- Maintain project timelines and tracking systems to support timely completion of research milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas/materials, and support communication with internal and external partners (e.g., school districts, community-based organizations, state agencies).
2. Data Collection & Participant Engagement
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection activities, including scheduling interviews and focus groups, preparing data collection materials, and managing participant communication and follow-up.
- Assist with survey administration using platforms such as REDCap, Qualtrics, or other digital systems.
3. Data Management, Quality Assurance & Preliminary Analysis
- Maintain organized data management systems, including tracking logs and secure file structures.
- Prepare, clean, and organize quantitative datasets; conduct basic descriptive analyses under supervision.
- Support qualitative data management and analysis, including transcript preparation, coding in qualitative software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose), and development of analytic summaries or matrices.
- Conduct QA/QC procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
4. Program Operations & Continuous Improvement Infrastructure
- Support maintenance of internal operational tracking systems (e.g., staff activity trackers, school engagement lists across initiatives) that facilitate coordination, reporting, and continuous improvement across CCR programs.
- Assist in synthesizing operational and research data to inform internal reporting and learning activities.
5. Scholarly & Grant Development Support
- Assist with preparation of research products, including reports, briefs, conference abstracts, tables, and manuscript components under supervision.
- Support grant development activities by tracking proposal components, formatting documents, and assisting with background synthesis.

$46,280.00-$75,670.40 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
