Job Description

Lawrence Hall is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our growing team. This Full-Time, Fully Remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a respected organization while ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations.

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, maintaining employee payroll records, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and supporting employees with payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.

• Review, verify, and reconcile employee timesheets and payroll records.

• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.

• Maintain and update employee payroll information within payroll systems.

• Process payroll-related changes, including new hires, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.

• Manage payroll tax reporting and deductions.

• Process garnishments, child support orders, and other required deductions.

• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly.

• Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and auditing purposes.

• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and efficiently.

• Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance departments to ensure payroll accuracy.

• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and payroll records.

• Recommend process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of payroll processing procedures and payroll regulations.

• Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, Workday, Paylocity, or similar systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

• Experience reconciling payroll discrepancies and payroll reporting.

• Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience.

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

• Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred.

• Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) is a plus.

• Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and employment regulations.
