Responsible for determining process, program, fixturing, and Set Up of new product. Works to improve the manufacturing and production processes using lean manufacturing and other improvement concepts. This includes collecting production data, analyzing outputs, determining corrective actions, project management, evaluating existing processes and configuring manufacturing systems to improve quality, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process.
Primary Responsibilities
· Leads facility programming process - completes programs and Set Ups to First Article approval for production for all new production parts in the Mill DMG Mori DMU 5 axis, HAAS VF2 3/4 axis and/or Lathe, Citizen Swiss departments.
· Leads in optimization of set-up cycle times and improvement of productivity standards by teaming with CNC machinists and set-up personnel.
· Investigates, experiments, and implements processes to maximize productivity.
· Maintains reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
· Evaluates current processes, determines their effectiveness, identifies opportunities, and recommends strategies for improvement.
· Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements.
· Mentors and trains operations staff on lean principles. Advises management on training plans and matrixes.
· Creates and maintains an environment of continuous improvement by actively managing projects to improve overall quality.
· Continuously challenges the status quo understood as a day-to-day activity at the plant.
· Proactive problem solves on the basis of statistical analysis of corrective actions.
· Ensures projects are completed on time.
· Works closely with other organizational key leaders/departments to achieve cohesive workflow and desired business results (ex: Quality, Inventory, Engineering, MNTC, etc.).
- Utilizes a hands-on approach in working with the front-line employees to promote and deploy sustainable continuous improvement activities.
· Assists in leading lean implementation and layout optimization for new product development projects in the plant.
· May review capital equipment and prepare recommendations/justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering are strongly preferred) or equivalent.
· or five to ten years of experience in production management and/or training.
· or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Knowledge of the medical device manufacturing industry preferred.
· Experience with machining of various materials: stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
· Strong understanding/experience of setting up Milling, Turning, Swiss-turning machines.
· Knowledge of G-codes and M-codes, MasterCam or other programming software.
· Knowledge of cutters and inserts to be capable of selecting the right tools for the machining operations based on the component material, hardness and drawing tolerances.
· Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M.
· Knowledge of ISO 13485 Quality Management System & FDA 21CFR 820 Regulations.
· Strong leadership and project management skills.
· Experience in development of team activities.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
