Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 – Discover Illinois nursing jobs in a lively city with beautiful parks, cultural attractions, and a welcoming community.
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 15, 2025 – December 15, 2025)
• Shift: Night shifts, 4x12-hour (18:45 – 07:15); option for 3x12s available
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2000-$2050
• Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Cardiac Stepdown / IMC Unit
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Charting System: Cerner
• Orientation: 16 hours (up to 16 additional hours may be required for modules)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Intermediate Care (IMC), or Telemetry nursing jobs
• BLS and NIHSS certifications (ACLS preferred)
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and telemetry
• Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients in a fast-paced IMC unit
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, cardiac drips, and telemetry monitoring
• Care for post-cardiac procedures including angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and cardiac surgery
• Manage ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and respiratory support equipment
• Administer IV therapies, blood products, and medications per protocols
• Support patients with neurological, orthopedic, and trauma diagnoses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain strict adherence to isolation precautions and wound care protocols
• Float to other nursing units within scope as needed
