Medical Assistant Job Details

• Location: Chicago, IL 60612 (Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Pediatric Hospital
• Position Type: Travel Medical Assistant Contract
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (September 22, 2025 – December 22, 2025)
• Schedule: Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm)
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating Saturdays (9:00am – 5:30pm)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $920 - $940
• Floating: Required within facility and to nearby units (up to 50 miles)
• Scrub Color: Any solid color
• EMR: Cerner experience preferred
• Parking: $2/day at Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (shuttle provided)

Medical Assistant Qualifications

• 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience and MA Associate's Degree or Diploma and MA Certification and BLS certification
  OR
  5+ years of Medical Assistant experience and MA Certification and BLS certification
• Active MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA, ARMA, NCCT, or NRCMA
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Experience with both adult and pediatric patient populations preferred
• Illinois Medical Assistant license required at time of application
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions for flu only)
• Must reside within 75 miles of the Chicago facility
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR is a plus

Medical Assistant Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical support to neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients in a high-volume outpatient clinic
• Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, vital signs, documentation, and clinical procedures
• Float to various hospital units as needed to support patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records using Cerner electronic medical records (EMR)
• Provide compassionate, family-centered care in a fast-paced pediatric healthcare environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Comply with all regulatory, vaccination, and documentation requirements
