• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Location: Springfield, IL 62781 (Illinois nursing jobs)
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet-recognized, Level I trauma center
• Start Date: September 29, 2025
• End Date: January 19, 2026
• Duration: 16 weeks
• Shifts: 4x10-hour day shifts (08:45 - 19:15)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
• On-call Requirement: Yes, approximately 1 per week (subject to change)
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Charting System: Cerner EMR
• Parking: Free with permit
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2450 - $2510

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or in application process)
• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I trauma center
• General OR and trauma nursing experience required
• Experience in bariatric, general surgery, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma cases
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)
• CNOR and CST certifications preferred
• Travel nursing experience required
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility (per travel nurse guidelines)
• First-time travelers not accepted

OR RN Responsibilities

• Circulate and/or scrub in a high-volume OR across all service lines except cardiovascular
• Deliver expert care for trauma cases (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, multiple injuries)
• Assist in general surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedures)
• Support bariatric procedures (laparoscopic assisted surgeries)
• Participate in neurology cases (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion)
• Assist in orthopedic cases (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reduction)
• Support plastic surgery (free flap - microvascular)
• Assist with transplant and organ donation procedures
• Participate in urology cases (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy)
• Emergency management (code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia)
• Operate specialized OR equipment (electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables)
• Maintain professional standards (infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol, urinary bladder catheterization)
• Float within hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
