Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Palatine, Illinois. In this contract-to-hire position, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with strong accounting knowledge and intermediate Excel skills who are eager to contribute to a dynamic finance environment. Responsibilities: - Record and maintain financial transactions, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations, with precision. - Will handle month end support and bank reconciliations. - Assist in preparing monthly and annual financial statements to ensure timely reporting. - Manage accounts payable and receivable processes while adhering to company policies. - Conduct financial analyses and generate reports to provide valuable insights for decision-making. - Collaborate with the team to refine accounting workflows and enhance efficiency. - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. - Provide support during audits by preparing and submitting required documentation. - Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning efforts. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field preferred. - 3-5+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on accuracy and detail, preferably within corporate or public accounting. - Proficiency in Excel, including skills such as pivot tables and data analysis. - Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. - Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members. - Experience in the mortgage industry is a must!!
