Product Engineer

A Plant Vehicle Team Engineer is responsible for analyzing and enhancing vehicle quality by reviewing warranty claims, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions. This role requires collaboration with dealership partners, customers, and supplier partners to address and resolve quality concerns effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming warranty claims data daily and categorize claims accordingly.

• Contact dealerships for parts and repair diagnostics and participate in customer callbacks to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback.

• Investigate plant floor issues to identify root causes and develop interim containment and permanent corrective actions.

• Support the assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds campaigns, audits, root cause analyses, and other quality-related issues.

• Maintain quality documents at the subsystem or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level to achieve quality targets.

• Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches.

• Support the Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific subsystems and collaborate with supplier partners to address quality concerns.

• Lead engineering trials and implement running changes for the subsystem.

• Issue engineering alerts and initiate authorization of engineering concerns for product changes to support quality objectives.

• Engage with technical experts and functional team members to drive resolution and develop corrective actions to improve product quality.

• Present to various levels of upper management, including weekly VRT reports, Vehicle Quality Reviews, and engineering managers' reviews.

Essential Skills

• Design experience and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analyzing data to identify warranty patterns and trends.

• Ability to use CAD software to assist with root cause analysis and part interface evaluations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Automotive experience is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with dealership partners, customers, and supplier partners. The role may require presence on the plant floor for investigations and trials. Dress code and specific safety training or licensing are not specified.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49.00 - $53.00/hr.
