Big Data Architect
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Big Data Architect / Senior Developer works under limited supervision to analyze and design analytical data integration solutions that include both structured and unstructured data, to develop and manage metadata from analytical data stores and data access tools, and to monitor and manage data quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with business users to obtain information requirements.
Hands on Experience with Hadoop environment (including Hive, Impala, Sqoop, HBASE, etc.
Mastery of various data modeling paradigms for both structured and unstructured data.
Mastery of various data querying languages (such as SQL and HiveQL).
Perform analysis on data sources to verify expected data content, relationships and quality.
Evolve Business Intelligence solutions and data models to meet new and changing business requirements.
Develop processes for capturing and maintaining metadata from all data warehousing components (from databases and big data repositories to data access tool catalogs).
Proactively monitor data quality; provide direction and guidance in improving the data load process.
Be proactive, motivated and flexible.
Possess analytical skills and have the ability to support and manage multiple priorities.
7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence area (specifically with structured and unstructured data analysis; solution design; metadata management).
Strong analytical, conceptual and technical skills; facile ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Capable of developing a deep understanding of source data: its strengths, weaknesses and semantics.
Experience with ETL tools (such as Informatica).
Experience with scripting tools (including unix shell, Python, Ruby, PHP, etc.
Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (including OLAP / Metadata Management / Reporting tools).
Extensive client facing skills with the ability to lead customer / business user meetings (as appropriate).
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Strong partnering and teamwork skills.
Flexibility, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to effectively with people at all levels of the enterprise from executives to developers (across the organizational spectrum from Business to Engineering including Information Technology).
Self-motivated and highly adaptable; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing Environment.
